Screamfree Parenting

ScreamFree Parenting
By Hal Edward Runkel

I rate this book-- 4.5/5 Stars

This is an excellent book for parents who want an alternative method of parenting your child.

It helps you eliminate the re run episodes of power struggle, pent up anger and frustrations which you may face on a daily basis being parents.

I find it extremely useful being a parent of a toddler who is eloquent in his speech and has lots of determination and will power insisting on having his way.

The author focuses on these points:

  • In order to have the best relationship with your kids, you need to focus on yourself, grow up yourself and calm yourself down.

  • As parents, it is our responsibility to our children to create and maintain a family environment that encourages and honors this space, for each person in the family.

  • By intentionally focusing on the outcome we desire for tomorrow, we encourage ourselves to take the most effective action today.

  • Children are not machines or pets and parents are neither their operators nor their owners. We cannot ever guarantee or control that end we desire in relationships

  • Everyone, including children, need their own space to grow and develop.

  • It is important to launch the child into a self-directed adulthood. As ultimately they are responsible for themselves an no one else.
This book taught me how to remain calm in which can be one of the most hair-raising experience and internalize what I wish to do before giving options to my son on the decisions he could make in a particular situation.
